About the Institute

The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA), India’s best and Asia’s foremost Business School, continues to be ranked as one of the finest institutions in the world. IIMA has a long and proud history of being the change-maker and driver of innovation in business, management, strategy and policy in the Indian market. In 2008, IIMA also became the first business school in the country to be awarded EQUIS (European Quality Improvement System) accreditation. This accreditation awarded by the EFMD (European Foundation for Management Development) certifies that the quality of IIMA’s academic processes and programmes are at par with the best business schools globally that have similar accreditation.

In 2019, IIMA established its first overseas branch, the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad Executive Education, in the Dubai International Financial Center (DIFC) to provide high quality executive education programmes to professionals and corporations from the Middle East. Through the Dubai Branch, IIMA hopes to aid UAEs transition to a knowledge economy.

Research Centers

Initially modeled as a business school, IIMA set up such customary academic Areas like Business Policy, Economics and Marketing. However, as it took on the challenge of professionalizing not just business management but also management in several other priority sectors, it set up a number of sector or mission oriented thrust groups to apply management science to other sectors of the economy. Today, IIMA is home to seven research centres in areas including Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Gold Policy, Health Services, Telecom, Gender, Financial Markets and Economy, and, Behavioral Science in Finance, Economics and Marketing. These Centres are staffed by faculty members of the different Areas who come together to pursue research and consulting.

JSW School of Public Policy

The JSW School of Public Policy (JSW-SPP) at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, India (IIMA) is a centre of excellence in the making. Set up very recently with support from the JSW Group, it seeks to make a distinctive contribution to knowledge about public policy through cutting-edge research on the emerging Indian experience of policy formulation and design, policy choice, and policy impact, and through its educational programs. It aims at encouraging an interdisciplinary approach that allows diverse theoretical and methodological perspectives to be brought to the study of public policy.

Case Center

The case method is an engaging pedagogy that involves the participants actively in the learning process. They get an opportunity to play the roles of decision makers, analysts, consultants and competitors of several corporations without leaving the confines of their class rooms. The real-life experiences that these cases represent effectively bring the field into the classroom. Though the method was developed by the Harvard Law and Business Schools in the early twentieth century, IIMA is recognized as a pioneer in adapting the method to the Indian context. The Case Centre is a repository of more than 4300 registered materials that includes Cases, Teaching Notes, Technical Notes, Exercises, Supplements, Epilogues and Games written by generations of IIMA faculty members over a period of more than five decades.
